Live Fit

Live Fit

By: Sensei Dave Hanson

As motivational teacher Jim Rohn once said, “You can’t hire somebody to do your push-ups for you.” To live fit means you must take responsibility for your thinking and your results. No one can change your thinking, but you. And a fit body always begins with a fit mind. Before starting a new exercise regimen, or determining your next set of fitness goals, begin with your thinking.  As Zig Ziglar use to say, “Sometimes we need a check up from the neck up.”  Make sure your attitudes and your thinking are on target and your actions will naturally align with your thoughts.  Start your new healthy lifestyle by reading a good book on health and fitness.  This is one of the best ways to get your thoughts centered and to get into the thinking of people who have been successful at what you desire to achieve in your health and also in other areas of life.  Once you begin your new lifestyle of health and fitness look to change your thinking to look at exercise as a reward instead of a punishment.

Reprogram your mind to see eating healthy as more enjoyable and rewarding than eating high calorie foods filled with carbs and saturated fat.  And remember that one time indulgence at the dinner table will never taste as good as you feel when you eat healthy and exercise.  Those one time indulgences can turn into years of weight and regret that can be hard to reverse.  Food should be looked at for the simple reason we eat and that is for fuel for our body, so make sure you put the good fuel into your body to give you the results on the mat and off the mat you desire. The good news is that it is possible to reverse the effects of  years of poor eating and lack of exercise.  It starts with a change in your thinking.  You have to first think fit and make it a habit, before you will ever live fit.  I encourage you to make it your goal to live fit this year and begin to reprogram your mind on how you look at food and exercise.  To help accelerate your efforts to live fit I encourage you to join a group where other like minded people train and exercise.  The dojo is a great place where you can find the support and encouragement you need to reach your goals and live fit, which is always more fun and rewarding than the alternative.  To live fit means a change in your thinking which will alter your actions and give you the results of a healthier and happier you.
